EXCAVATING THE VISUAL ARCHIVE: EXPLORATIONS IN ART/ARCHAEOLOGY AND THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL MUSEUM This presentation is about an ongoing project that takes place in Oslo where I have been settled since January 2017. It is literally the "excavation" of an abandoned box of 1000s of 35 mm slides from a defunct anthropological museum that engages issues of visual culture, visual anthropology, sexuality, race, representation, material culture.....

14.45-15.00 Coffee

15.00-15.30 Alyssa Grossman, Social anthropologist and ethnographic filmmaker, University of Gothenburg, Valand Academy of Fine Art
UNFIXING MUSEOLOGIES: NEW FORMS OF CURATURE IN THE ETHNOGRAPHIC ARCHIVES This talk will present a collaborative, trans-disciplinary research project I am currently developing in and around the archives of the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg. Outlining the general ideas and strategies informing this work, I will discuss how new and experimental forms of 'curature' might be employed to generate encounters with collected objects that extend beyond anthropological projections of the unknown 'other,' and actuate new ways of engaging with and understanding these collections outside the colonial paradigm.

15.30-16.00 Cecilia Jansson, Musician, researcher and artist, Linnaeus University, Applied cultural heritage
AT THE INTERSTICES Cultural history sometimes provides a perspective from which the connections between different forms of cultural ex-pression becomes tangible. This is mirrored in how my own work as an artist and a researcher has developed: in bridging different forms of artistic expression and through my efforts to create/seek a new, comprehensive whole.
