Faculty of Humanities
The Faculty of Humanities is the place to explore humanity’s existential questions. Here, we teach and conduct research in languages, culture, history, literature and philosophy – all under one roof in Humanisten in central Gothenburg.
The humanities offer a broad range of subject areas. Common to all is their exploration of the traces that humans leave behind, in the form of language, texts, cultural expressions, objects and world views.
In our research and teaching, the interest in sustainability, artificial intelligence, digitization, cultural heritage, and communication is prominent. The timeless questions of what characterizes a human being, and how we can understand her choice of path through history, also accommodate critical attention to the role of humanity in the Anthropocene.
